Like most good stories this one starts with a vision fueled by intelligence and determination

Nicholas crafted his first knife in his basement on clover street in Johnstown Pennsylvania 1969.

From the beginning Nicholas worked on manufacturing his own machinery to push the restraints of available technology.

1984

Nicholas quit his job at the Johnstown Steel Mill to pursue a business of his own making and sharpening of knives.

1986

The first Blade Show..

…Nicholas attended was in 1986 in Knoxville Tennessee. At the time it was called “The Blade Super Show”. He attended that show as a knife maker eager to start selling blades but quickly came to a new conclusion.

“This is the worst place in the world for a knife maker…

But the best place for a guy selling knife making supplies.”

Nicholas ended up selling no knives that show but the machine he had built and designed for knife grinding did sell. He had to rethink his entire business strategy.

Nicholas attended his second Blade Show and sold wood blanks and grinders. He built the grinders and they featured an innovative arm for precision angle grinding.

After many years Nicholas noticed a lack of durability in beautiful natural woods. So he set out to realize the full potential of these one of a kind woods.

After having wood stabilized from other manufacturers, all of them were found to be short of Nicholas’s uncompromising standards.

Nicholas embarked on a journey to make a truly impregnated wood handle material. One that would stand up to the test of time and remain whole and vibrant.

After years of development and testing, Nicholas was able to see the materials he had been envisioning.

Although he achieved a material standard never before seen, to this day he still works to make this process superior.

Nicholas had made countless friends over the years, building priceless relationships with the people that taught him sharing a bond is the most important part of any journey.
